Daily News – PlayStation Welcome Back, Man vs Katamari and Dead Rising: Case West

Sony have extended their welcome back offer of free games until 5pm BST 5th July 2011. That’s tomorrow. After this time you won’t be able to claim your 2 free PS3 or PSP games. No more procrastinating people, download those free games now! I picked inFamous and Dead Nation as I’ve already got wipEout HD and LittleBigPlanet.

The Spiceworks community website has some additional guidance for taking advantage of the welcome back offer. It seems that if you don’t immediately download your 2 free games after activating the offer then you have to claim your games in a slightly different way:

Instructions for users who haven’t immediately downloaded their welcome back games:

  1. Exit PlayStation®Store
  2. From the XMB™: select ‘Account Management’ -> ‘Transaction Management’ -> ‘Services List’ -> ‘SCEA Promotion’
  3. Select ‘Welcome Back Free PS3™ Game 1’ or ‘Welcome Back Free PS3™ Game 2’ (whichever product has remaining uses)
  4. Select ‘Select Content’ button and select your game

Look what happens when you annoy a Katamari. I recommend checking some of Freddie’s other videos on his channel. I did laugh at his E3 2011 coverage. Damn, looks like I missed the Half-Life 2: Episode 3 demo at E3 :-(

There’s a new monthly survey available on Xbox LIVE rewards. Completing the short survey nets you 20 MS points. By short, I mean it takes a less than 1 minute to complete. Sure you’re giving Microsoft more demographic information about yourself which will be invaluable to their marketing department, but you get free MS points in exchange.

Whilst still on the topic of Xbox, the websites for Games for Windows and Xbox are going to be merged on the 11th July 2011. According to Microsoft via Eurogamer:

All of the same content from GamesForWindows.com will be available on Xbox.com so members of communities across Xbox 360 and Games for Windows can purchase and get details on their favorite games, all in one place.

All account information will remain the same and community members can still take advantage of their Xbox Live profile in their Windows games and stay connected to friends who are playing on the PC.
