Wargaming – News Round-Up
- Updated: 3rd Jun, 2013
Wargaming, the developers behind the massively successful World of Tanks MMO have been extremely busy recently with a ton of news announcements and a new console game to be revealed at E3. We’ve wrapped up all this news (and more) into one handy post.
Wargaming at E3 2013
World of Warships will be getting its first public showing on Wargaming’s huge booth in the South Hall at E3 alongside World of Tanks and Warplanes. Attendees will also get to play the company’s first console title developed by Wargaming West.
Unified Premium Account
Premium accounts are changing. If you purchase a premium account in World of Tanks, that status will soon apply to both World of Warplanes, Battleships and WoT Generals and all future Wargaming titles. Expect the official launch of the unified premium account later this year.
Tankfest 2013
Last year, I visited Tankfest to interview Wargaming’s CEO Victor Kislyi about the success of World of Tanks, World of Warplanes and Warships development and their move into e-sports. This year, Victor will be at Tankfest 2013 following Wargaming’s £80,000 grant to the Bovingdon Tank Museum to build a new education centre.
World of Tanks Update 8.6
The next update to World of Tanks includes balances the in-game economy, gun accuracy, new tanks in the form of SPGs to strengthen the artillery gameplay, a new British premium tank, the A33 Excelisor and a new Korean map.
Weekend at War Film Festival
Wargaming are sponsoring a 4 day film festival at the Stratford Picturehouse, London. Between the 4th – 7th July 2013 you’ll be able to watch 10 of the greatest World War II films ever made from Kelly’s Heroes to The Dam Busters. You can view the complete list of films and book tickets (individual films cost £8.50 to watch) on the Weekend at War website.
Spitfires in Burma Talk
Taking place on the 19th June 2013 at the RAF museum in London, the Wargaming research team, set up to find the squadron of Spirfires buried in Burma after the end of World War II, will be presenting its findings. The event is free to attend. To find out more about this event and to reserve your spot visit our events calendar.

Yep, Wargaming now has its own TV show. This month’s edition includes news about World of Tanks Blitz (a new MMO tank game just for iOS and Android devices), World of Warships developers examining 5 US Navy warships and Chris Taylor from Gas Powered Games talking about their future now they are part of Wargaming family.
