Nintendo 3DS Promotion – Buy 3 Games Get 1 Free

Nintendo will be running a promotion from 2pm tomorrow, 23rd April, that offers a free downloadable 3DS game. Buy and register three games with Club Nintendo from a list of eight and you can pick a fourth from the list to download for free.

These are good games, too. It’s not a crappy “buy our pointless augmented reality thing that you’ve never heard of” promotion. In fact, if you have a 3DS, you probably already have at least one or two of the games on the list. I know I’ve played far too much Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate on the Wii U and if you have a 3DS, it’s really worth getting:

• Animal Crossing: New Leaf
• Castlevania: Lords of Shadow – Mirror of Fate
• Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D
• Fire Emblem: Awakening
• LEGO® CITY Undercover: The Chase Begins
• Luigi’s Mansion 2
• Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate (Nintendo 3DS version)
• Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity

I was already on the fence about buying a 3DS after last week’s announcement of the Animal Crossing New Leaf edition of the 3DS XL. Given that you can register your games any time between 23rd April and 30th June, I might just buy it. And yes, games that came preinstalled with a hardware bundle are eligible for the promotion.

A few things to note – You need to claim your download code by 31st July and the download itself will expire at the end of this year, 31st December 2013. Best make sure you have enough storage to keep it after that. You also can’t transfer the free game over to another 3DS, so if you’re thinking of upgrading to an XL model, do that first. Finally, the promotion is only open to CLub Nintendo members that are aged 16 or over.
