The Sims 3: Plans for 2013
- Updated: 16th Jan, 2013
EA have outlined their plans for The Sims 3 this year, with five new packs on the way.
The first “stuff pack” is coming on 25th January – The Sims 70s, 80s and 90s Stuff. You can deck your Sims out in 70s punk or glam rock outfits, add bellbottoms, go for 80s crop tops or 90s hammerpants.
That will be followed on 8th March by a full expansion, The Sims 3 University Life. Wave a tearful goodbye as your Sims leave the nest and head off to a new life of university keggers, student protests and a whole new town where they can visit the bowling alley and spray paint a mural across the road from the ever-exciting SimBurger.
Yeah, it’s definitely an American film version of university life, isn’t it? Not a single mention of gladiator jousting at sports award balls, snakebite and black vomit stains in the street or remembering to pick up your free condoms from the Union.
Pre-ordering the University Life Limited Edition Expansion Pack will also get you the Party Pack – a Parteus Maximus statue that allows you to throw themed parties, a toga outfit and a masquerade mask. Right now the limited edition is cheaper at Sainsbury’s than the normal edition is at most specialist online games shops so why not, eh?
Later in June we’ll get The Sims 3 Island Paradise – beaches, scuba-diving, snorkelling and the big new feature; fully-customisable houseboats to search for uncharted islands. You’ll be able to run your own beach resorts and build a bungalow that sits over the water. It really is sickeningly aspirational, isn’t it? I hate myself for the hours I’ve spent getting my Sim trim and fit while I slob in front of the computer munching on chocolate HobNobs.
Two more as-yet-unnamed packs will follow in “fall” which I guess is September to November? The first is a stuff pack filled with clothes and items from iconic movie themes and settings. The second will be another expansion that takes Sims to the future. Details will obviously be revealed later in the year.
