Ivy The Kiwi? – Buy The Game And Help Save Some Kiwi Birds
- Updated: 28th Oct, 2010
Rising Star Games have announced that they will be donating 10p for every copy sold of Ivy The Kiwi? to the Save The Kiwi fund. Unfortunately, the Kiwi population has been declining for centuries. 200 years ago there were millions of Kiwi’s in New Zealand. By 1998 there were fewer than 100,000 birds and by 2008 that had fallen to 70,000 across five species. I’ve been lucky enough to have spent time in New Zealand and seen a Kiwi bird whilst was there. They are amazing looking creatures, who’s defence mechanisms (run away or blend + hide) are proving ineffective against the influx of mammalian predators (stoats, dogs, cats, ferrets). They need our help to survive.
Time to tell you about the game. Ivy The Kiwi? is the latest game from Sonic The Hedgehog creator Yuji Naka. The game follows the adventures of a lonely baby bird who is searching for her mother :-(. It is your job to help her follow the trail of feathers to them. The trailer below shows how you can do this:
It looks quite fun to play. Although, I do have a weakness for Kiwi games, as they remind me of the all time classic game New Zealnd Story. Ah, Tiki The Kiwi, you were awesome. This was another sad, save the Kiwi game as you can see from the screenshot. All Tiki’s friends had all been kidnapped!!!!
Anyway, I digress. If you feel like helping save some Kiwi’s and you like the look of Ivy The Kiwi? then it’s available from the 29th Oct 2010 on Nintendo Wii and DS.
