In Other News: Dragon Age: Inquisition, Runers and more

More news from our favourite UK games blogs that are almost as good as this one.
Cal Robinson from God Is A Geek got to play some Dragon Age: Inquisition at gamescom. He and Adam Cook had a chat about his experience in a video showing footage from the game. “There’s a lot of combat options. Each different character has two pages worth of abilities to use, so it takes some getting used to.” Cal much prefers the action fighting style to the tactical camera where you can pause the action, but both modes require plenty of concentration. “There’s are so many different abilities and moves you’ve got, there is still tactics involved as well, in learning those up and which ones you want to select for each given companion. You’ve got three companions as well as your player character, so you’ve got four different characters to manage and fight with at any given time.”
GGS Gamer’s Dan Laframboise has reviewed the First Light DLC that tells the backstory of Fetch from InFAMOUS: Second Son. Even though Fetch doesn’t have all Delsin’s powers, the core gameplay is much the same. She has her neon powers and can run up buildings or shoot from afar. There are “Lumen races”, sniper challenges and a new arena mode that unlocks for the main game as well.
Runers is a top-down roguelike that’s just launched on Steam. It’s not an early-access title, so it’s surprising to see that Expansive DLC’s Trent Pyro found a lot of placeholder text and UI elements. He also found that the 16 classes and 16 races was an overwhelming amount of choice and the game needs better balancing. Check out the Runers review here.
Metro Redux came out recently, the two-in-one package that gives you an enhanced version of Metro 2033, Metro Last Light and option to play either game using the other game’s mechanics. Didn’t like the stealth mode of Last Light? Switch to 2033’s system, and vice versa. Sean T McCarthy from StickTwiddlers has been playing through both games and posted his review.
