Win A Drive In A Lotus Formula 1 Car
- Updated: 13th Jun, 2012
Race Room are once again offering up a once in a lifetime prize to the winner of its “so you think you can drive” competition. Taking place at this year”s Canary Wharf Motor Expo until the 17th June 2012, the person who sets the fastest lap on the F1 race simulators will become a driver for the Lotus F1 team at the Paul Ricard Circuit in Marseille, France.
To find out who can set the fastest lap, Race Room have set up 10 race pods in Jubilee Place, Canary Wharf. The pods are all linked together so you”ll be racing on the Brands Hatch circuit in Formula 1 cars with 9 other drivers. You get 2 warm-up laps and then 3 race laps to set your fastest time. The simulator software is rFactor Pro which, as it”s not available to download for home use, goes some way to levelling the playing field against those racing sim petrol heads.
Event details:
- Date: Until 17th June 2012
- Times: 14th – 15th June 10am – 8pm, 16th June 10am – 6pm and 17th June 11am – 6pm
- Location: Jubilee Place, Canary Wharf
Jubilee Place is right next to the Canary Wharf Underground Station with is on the Jubilee line. It is also a short walk from either the Canary Wharf or Heron Quays DLR Stations.
Good luck online casino to everyone who enters. Let us know what you think of the simulators.
Update 14th June 2012: The current fastest time is 1:06:848. I also got to interview the winner of last year”s competition – Alan Hawkins – who told me about his experience of driving an F1 car for the very first time. Look out for the interview on the site.
Update 17th June 2012: The competition is now over. The fastest lap and the winner of a drive in a real Formula 1 car was Sal Mirabile. It was really close all the way to the very last race with second and third placed men – David Tan and Alan Hawkins – trying to shave off those vital tenths of a second that would give them victory. In the end Sal”s time proved to be just out of reach.
