Out of Touch with Simlish Singers
- Updated: 6th Sep, 2010
Ok, at the ripe old age of 29, I officially feel almost completely out of touch. EA have just announced the Simlish tracklist for their upcoming expansion “Late Night” and I don’t even recognise half the names of the singers.
[For the uninitiated, Sims don’t speak English. They speak Simlish which has developed over the years into a full language, complete with (unofficial) Simlish fonts and a(n unofficial) Simlish dictionary.]
For The Sims 3 and the Late Night expansion, EA have somehow persuaded world-renowned artists to record a Simlish version of their hits. Here’s the tracklist for Late Night. I’ve bolded the singers that I’ve heard before:
- 3oh!3 – “Double Vision”
- Bryan Rice – “There for You”
- Chiddy Bang – “Here We Go”
- Electrolightz – “Miss Outta Control”
- Eliza Doolittle – “Rollerblades”
- Foxy Shazam – “Unstoppable”
- Hadag Nahash – “Lo Maspik”
- Hadouken! – “M.A.D.”
- Jessica Mauboy – “Saturday Night”
- Junkie XL – “Live Wired”
- Kelis – “Brave”
- Kelly Rowland – “Rose Colored Glasses”
- King Fantastic – “All Black Ying Yang (The Party Song)”
- My Chemical Romance – “Na Na Na”
- Nikki & Rich – “Next Best Thing”
- The Ready Set – “More Than Alive”
- Soulja Boy – “Speakers Going Hammer”
- Travie McCoy – “Need You”
And I’m pretty sure I only know of Soulja Boy because there was a large poster of him in a Tube station on my way to work. Clearly I need to brush up on my music. Are you a fan of any of the singers listed? What’s their best song that I should check out? Tell me in the comments.
