ESA Average US Gamer Updates
- Updated: 28th Nov, 2006
The ESA have updated their Top Ten Facts about US gamers since I last looked at them in 2005. Here’s a quick summary of the bits I found interesting:
- The average game player’s age has increased from 30 to 33
- The average game buyer’s age has increased from 37 to 40
- The percentage of gamers who are women has decreased from 43% to 38%
- The percentage of US gamers over the age of 50 has increased from 19% to 25%
The first two facts look suspiciously like they’ve come from two surveys done three years apart. As for the gamers over the age of 50, I do wonder how the Wii and DS Brain Training will affect that next year.
The ESA haven’t linked to their sources so draw whatever unsubstantiated conclusions you like from these changes. You can find more trivia about US and UK gamers over on our ‘What is an Average Gamer?’ page. If you know of sources on any other countries, please get in touch via the Contact Us sidebar link, or just comment below.
